Wood comes from trees, stone and ore from mining, and shell fragments and coral branches from the beach. Different trees supply different materials, so check what your recipe actually needs before gathering.
Match the material to its source
| What you need | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Wood and scrap wood | Gather from trees. The tree type affects which wood you receive. |
| Sap | Gather from trees; travel surprise chests are another reported source, with no guaranteed drop. |
| Shell fragments and coral branches | Pick them up along the beach. |
| Stone and ore | Mine rocks. Look for the matching deposit when a recipe calls for quartz or iron. |
| Bamboo and other specialist plant materials | Check the trees and plants on the islets you visit. |
Missing a type of wood?
- Check the material in the crafting recipe rather than assuming any wood will work.
- Look for a different tree type. Apple and plum trees provide one basic wood type; mango and avocado trees provide another.
- If the source is not available at home, explore other islets or visit a friend’s planet where it grows.
Keep some specialist materials for planned furniture and building projects before selling or spending your whole stock. Finding a source does not guarantee a rare drop on every gathering attempt.
