How to discover recipes and avoid wasting ingredients

Select an undiscovered recipe at the cooking station before experimenting. Recipe discovery and Freestyle cooking handle failed attempts differently.

Discover a recipe

1. Open the cooking station and select the unknown recipe you want to unlock.
2. Add an ingredient combination and read the feedback after the attempt.
3. If the hint asks for a different quality, change the ingredient’s quality as well as checking its type. An ingredient with the right name may still have the wrong quality.

When ingredients are at risk

Players report that rejected combinations in selected-recipe discovery return the ingredients. Do not apply that rule to Freestyle or ordinary cooking: failed dishes can consume ingredients, including during bulk cooking.

Start with a small attempt and check the result before committing rare supplies to a large batch.
